Royal Mail has partnered with Logikk and Microsoft to bring you a Hackathon for budding data scientists to work on a challenge for the charity "Missing People".
For the Hackathon itself, entrants will be placed in a team of 4 which will be made up of Royal Mail Data Scientists with the aim being to design a model for predicting when a child is at risk of running away from home.
The brief is: "Working with the charity "Missing People", you will work in a team on the Microsoft Azure platform to build interpretable models able to identify children at high-risk of running away from home."
While this an excellent opportunity to help a charity and gain valuable experience working on an important challenge, Royal Mail is also looking to grow their Data Science team, so if you impress them on the day, you may be offered a chance to join their team.
The Hackathon will be using the Microsoft Azure platform, so if you have experience using that then that's a bonus!
You will be provided with food and drink throughout the day and will get the opportunity to socialise with the whole Royal Mail Data Science in the evening over drinks. (read: Pizza and Beers!)
Registration closes on the 21st May so sign up soon!
For any further questions, get in touch with Dan Lamyman (Co-Found & Director at Logikk), who is one of the partners running the day.
